Plot: An extrovert, confident girl who's a diehard Rajnikant fan and watches all his movies "first day first show"; enters into an arranged marriage with an awkwardly shy engineer who is an introvert and claims that movies are so boring that they put him to sleep!
Shortly after their wedding, the couple gets into a long distance relationship due to circumstances. How they cope forms the rest of the story.
My Review: A slow, predictable yet different tale of love than the regular Bollywood pulp.
Beautiful temples, locations, amazing sarees and jewellery and amidst that honest effort to show the Tamil culture which definitely engages you until almost the quarter of the movie.
The narrative sometimes drags too much and at times the issues resolve abruptly without a proper closure! Anni's two scenes are an example of this and also the track of Meenakshi's old friend. Not to mention the boyfriend of her sister in law. Too many threads collected, weaving started and then the threads are chopped off suddenly!
Every character gets space to perform and get noticed and none of the actors have left the chance slip off.
Sanya Malhotra as Meenakshi is looking stunning and has acted well. She's straightforward, unique and firmly stands by what she believes in.
Sundareshwar played by Abhimanyu Dassani, on the other hand is a little too shy and there are places in the movie where Sanya steals the scene clearly carrying his character too. Abhimanyu's character is not given enough space to rise above his primary issues like eager to jump into matrimony at a young age and desire to earn a lot of money. As a result, he jiggles between the two.
Music, lyrics of songs and cinematography is noteworthy.
